The Artist
Diego Gruer was born 1979 in Palmanova, Italy, as the son of a craftsman. After completing his education he began working side by side with his father at the family company, shaping and crafting wooden furnishings and learning the unique properties and characteristics of the materials that would later become his “Without Frames” sculptures.
As an author, martial arts teacher and avid traveller, the form of his mosaics are inspired by all areas of his life. Nature, Japanese art and other personal themes can be seen in all of his creations – many of which contain personal flourishes or details such as a poem crafted into a table intended as a gift to a mother. He believes passionately in the value of individual craftsmanship and in promoting Italian creativity.
